Day 1: Marrakesh → Ouarzazate → Agdz

Your journey departs from busy Marrakech in the morning using the pass of Tizi-n-Tichka in the high Atlas mountains, affording you some amazing panoramas of this stunning and often snow-capped range. Don’t worry, this may be a Sahara desert focused journey, but there’s always time to stop and take pictures.

From there we shall descend down to Ouarzazte, often called the Gateway to the Sahara and home to many impressive Kasbahs, including the Kasbah of Taourirt right at the centre.

We’ll organize some amazing local food for lunch including both meat and vegetarian/vegan options before departing to the Dra’a Valley and the village of Agdz where we will make a palace our home for the night, with the vast expanse of the Sahara waiting for us.

Day 2: Agdz → Zagora → M’hamid → Erg Lihoudi Dunes

After a hearty breakfast of your choice we’ll start the day by visiting a Kasbah in Agdz bfore hissing the road to Zagora along the remainder of the stunning Dra’a valley, and then on to M’Hamid.

There the paved roads end, and the option to continue to our desert campsite at Erg Lihoudi on camel-back will be available, taking most people around 2 hours to complete.

We’ll bed down in a traditional nomadic tent with tea and supper as we watch the magnificent Saharan sunset.

Day 3: Erg Lihoudi Dunes → M’hamid → Erg Chigaga Dunes

Waking up in the desert for breakfast is always a strange sensation for our guests and often one that generates a mild sense of disbelief!

After breakfasting we’ll take another camel ride back to M’hamid where you’ll already be excited for lunch again in this beautiful oasis of palms.

From there it’s back into the comfort of our luxury Toyota Landcruisers, chosen by us for their desert-crossing ability as we deliver you across the Saharan sands to dunes of Erg Chigaga where we will again camp in the style of Nomads.

Day 4: Erg Chigaga Dunes → Foum Zguid → Taznakht

Another 90km of desert driving after breakfast will give you enough photo opportunities and memorable sights to satisfy the Saharan portion of your adventure as we pass out of the desert past Lake Iriqui and into the mountains.

We’ll stop at Foum Zguid for lunch and then head back to Ouarzazate past Taznakht.

Day 5: Taznakht → Ouarzazate/Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakesh

Finally, they’ll be time to visit the Kasbah of Tifoultout as well as the world famous cinema studios, before heading to Ait Ben Haddou – a jewel of Moroccan culture where we will also have our final lunch before heading back to Marrakech taking a little bit of the desert soul with us.
