Although you can easily find Desert trips to Fez from Marrakech, taking the long way round has its own rich rewards, such as our Marrakech to Fez 3 day tour via ancient Ait Ben Haddou and the Erg Chebbi dunes of the Sahara.
A relatively short tour, but creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Departure/Arrival Location: Marrakech
Tour Duration: 3 Days/ 2 Nights
Transport: Luxury 4×4 Toyota Landcruiser, Camel Ride
Max Travelers: 4 per vehicle.
Food & Accommodation: Both provided to suit budget. Includes 1x nights in Nomadic tents in the desert.
Your journey to Fez starts bright and early with a pick up from your Marrakech hotel in one of our safe and reliable 4×4 Toyota Landcruisers, whisking you out of the big city and up over the High Atlas Mountains (plenty of photo opportunities) and down into the Southern foothills to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
There you can cross the stepping stones in the traditional way to this amazing and authentically Moroccan World Heritage site.
From there we’ll move further from the mountains to Ouarzazate – the famed Gateway to the Sahara before loosely following the river Dades through the beautiful valleys. Eventually you’ll end your day with a tasty dinner and a comfortable bed.
We’ll eat a hearty breakfast to help sustain you through the amazing second leg of your journey before setting off from Dades Valley to Todgha Gorge offering you some simply stunning scenery and walks if you wish.
From there, you’ll travel to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi Dunes (around 2 hours camel ride through the Sahara) where you’ll make camp, watch the Saharan sunset and eat a simple yet delicious meal of tagine cooked on the campfire. Music and entertainment in the dunes of the Sahara!
Providing we can tear you away from the sunrise over the dunes and your breakfast, we’ll travel back to Merzouga on the camels, jump back in the 4x4s and head to Fez, but not without stopping along the way at selected locations such as the Ziz Valley Gorge, Midelt and the cedar forests en-route.
At last, you’ll reach the old city of Fez, where we will say farewell and leave you to continue on your journey.
