DAY 2: RABAT-CHEFCHAOUEN
After an early morning breakfast, we explore the beautiful sights of Rabat: KASBAH OUDAYAS ; Fortress of Victory built in the 1100s by the Almoravid dynasty, Hassan’s Tower and the Mausoleum of Alouite, then the Challa necropolis to admire the harmonious blend of Phoenician, Roman and Islamic architecture, Later, at your leisure, you will visit KASABAH Mahdiya, an ancient port and Portuguese fortress, which is still partially standing on a beautiful panoramic hill overlooking the Sabou estuary, Then you cross the fertile fields of Gharb, one of Morocco’s largest agricultural lands, past the woodlands of the RIF mountains and the town of Ouazzan, famous for its typical Moroccan fur, “JELLABA”. In the late afternoon you can watch the sunset in the open air in the blue town of CHEFCHAOUEN, the icon of the RIF mountains. Overnight in Chefchaouen.
DAY 3 : CHEFCHAOUEN-FES
Early wake-up, breakfast and a last walk through the medina alleys before heading to the splendid 8th century city of Fès. You are invited on a short one-hour excursion to the ruins of Volubilis, one of the ancient cities influenced by the Romans in North Africa in all its forms. The city supplied Rome with many agricultural products: olive oil, olives, vegetables, wheat and the famous cedar wood. Then visit Meknes, the 17th century capital, with its magnificent BAB MANSOUR gate, the mausoleum of Moulay ISMAIL, the granaries and the SEOUAN tank; a short walk in its peaceful medina is recommended. In the late afternoon, the journey continues to Fes; overnight in Fes.
DAY 4 : VISIT TO FÈS
Today, after breakfast, you will meet your guide and set off to explore Fes el Jaded; the medieval Jewish quarter, the magnificent gate of the Royal Palace, the Islamic street with beautiful Andalusian balconies in the houses of Moorish refugees after the Spanish conquest in the 15th century, a walk along the ramparts of the city, a visit to the pottery workshops and some of the gates of the oldest medina in Morocco, the first still existing imperial city, Fès Elbaly, The city was founded by Moulay IDRISS 1st/ and his son IDRISS 2nd. If you have time in the afternoon, you can take a sunset walk along the “Champs Elise” the new city founded by the French in the 20th century, and have a coffee in one of the local cafes, staying in the same hotel.
DAY 5: FES – MIDELT – MERZOUGA DESERT
taday wi will leave fes Behind and take a drive to Midelt through the Atlas Mountains and the Central Atlas cedar forest. Visit to the Ifrane ski resort and then to Azrou, an important handicraft centre. Lunch stop in Midelt, famous for its mineral products and apples. In the afternoon, we head to the Merzouga desert, where we visit the towns of Erfoud and Rissan. We continue to Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. This evening we will stay in a comfortable local hotel/riad and enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner.
DAY 6 : MERZOUGA DESERT
Early in the morning you will wake up to watch the sunrise over a high sandy peak near your tents and enjoy breakfast. Later you will set off with your guide on a trek through the beautiful winding sand dunes, take plenty of time to leave the dry riverbed on the eastern side of sandy Erg, enjoy a typical nomadic lunch and a relaxed rest, in the late afternoon you will be warmly welcomed in one of the nomad tents around the dunes, have a cup of tea and learn more about their daily life. Your 4×4 car will be waiting for you for transportation to your hotel, a relaxing HAMMAM and dinner.
DAY 7: MERZOUGA – DADES VALLEY
After a unique experience of the Sahara and the Monument of Life, today’s roads and trails will take you along the caravan routes of yesteryear to the Dades Valley and Marrakech, enjoying the scenery and admiring the power of nature. A visit to the Toudra Gorge is a stark contrast, with some walks and stunning panoramic views, the valley and canyons are breathtaking. We then head to the Dades Valley where we spend the night and have dinner.
DAY 8 : DADES VALLEY – MARRAKECH
After breakfast, we depart via Taouirt and Ait Ben Haddou kasbahs to Marrakech. Located in the High Atlas Mountains, Ait Ben Haddou is one of the most magnificent fortresses in southern Morocco and has been used as the backdrop for many films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth and Gladiator.
